Moon lands at Caledonia Lounge on Wednesday

John Lambremont and the rest of the members of We Landed on the Moon are keeping a good 20-mile buffer between themselves and the Snowmageddon of 2010 as they make their way around the country on their first tour of the year. The five-piece band from Baton Rouge , La., is out in support of its forthcoming record, "This Will Be One for the Books."

"The first two albums we did completely by ourselves, but this one we did the right way. It's the best thing we've ever done." Lambremont says.

Written over a concentrated period of creativity, the band members worked hard on getting the material just so before heading into a studio in New Orleans to give it their all.

"We wrote everything about a year ago over the course of six or seven months. And unlike the last record where we spent a year and a half on producing it, we got the songs exactly how we wanted and just smashed seven days in the studio."

The band worked at Fudge Recording Studio in New Orleans, the former digs of alterna-pop outfit Better Than Ezra. Thanks to the tireless help of engineer Jacques DelaTour, the band has put together a record that makes no bones about being less power-pop than its predecessors and more full-on rock. Lambremont says that the city, though not what it was once was, still was an inspiring place to work.

"Parts of the town are still a mess, and living in Baton Rouge, I've met a lot of people who escaped the storm and that are not ever going back. But in some ways it's (also) better than it ever was before."

With their new record about to see an official label release (although they can't say which one just yet), and the band's energetic sets getting more and more attention, Lambremont and his bandmates are excited about their prospects. This, despite having to negotiate an industry that is less certain about its own future.
